Swollen legs are a pretty unpleasant and ugly health condition. Sadly, many people consider this unfortunate state to be normal because their legs suffer most of the burden of everyday life.
This burden can be augmented by excess weight, long periods of standing, specific work condition (long sitting), etc.
First of all, you should consult your doctor so that he or she can determine the exact cause of the swelling (heart, hormonal imbalance, kidneys, insufficiency, etc.,). If the swelling is not the result of an underlying health issue, you can probably reduce it naturally at home.
In addition, we will present some useful advice that can help you get rid of the swelling altogether.
- Reduce your salt consumption
You should try to eat less salt. If you can’t do this, a better alternative is iodinated salt.
- Consume more fruits and vegetables
Try to consume more fruits and vegetables which have a diuretic effect: cucumbers, watermelons, melons, strawberries, etc. Boiled parsley root is also considered a great diuretic:
- 400 ml of boiling water
- 1 tablespoon of finely chopped parsley root or leaves
- Juice of 1 lemon
Pour the boiling water over a tablespoon of finely chopped parsley. Cover the bowl and let the mixture sit overnight. Strain it the next day. Finally, add the lemon juice.
Drink 100 ml of this remedy three times a day until the swelling is gone.
