Journalist Deven Hopp got that advice from her dermatologist, due to skin problems, and decided to abstain from coffee for 24 days. In fact, coffee is the cause for many skin problems due to the high amount of caffeine containing harmful acids. If you drink large amounts of coffee, it acts as a diuretic and dehydrates skin.
The results of her experiment are quite interesting. After the first week without coffee her face began to slowly subside and pimples decreased. After the third week her skin was visibly hydrated and pores were tightened.
Her skin did not completely transformed during those three weeks, but was visibly better than before. This is why she decided to quit drinking coffee for a long period of time -- because she wanted to be fully satisfied with the appearance of her skin.
She thought she would not be able to go through the day without the daily dose of caffeine, but the opposite happened. She got slightly sick after she drank her first coffee after those 24 days. So, she again accepted the challenge and decided to “survive” without coffee for another whole month.
