Onions Against Cough

Onions Against Cough

In the season of colds, flu and decreased immunity, nothing is better than a healthy and hot soup. Onions have many nutritional and medicinal properties.

If you want to get rid of high temperature and fever, cut the onions into pieces or circles and place them on each foot and put on socks.

If you want to prevent coughing and sore throat -- forget the old recipe, where onion pieces are put on the neck and covered with fabric, because we will suggest you a new one, proven recipe for homemade cough syrup.

-- 1 cup of chopped onion
-- ½ cup of honey
-- 1 tablespoon of cloves
-- 1 tablespoon of ginger

Put chopped onions with spices in a deep pot. Add the ½ cup of honey. Put this mixture on a low fire and let it simmer for about 20 minutes. Stir the mixture every few minutes. The pot should stay closed all the time.

-- After 20 minutes put away the pot from the fire and strain. The liquid is placed in a glass jar with a loose lid and stored in a dark room for a few weeks. The dose for children under 10 years of age is 1 teaspoon, and for children over 10 and adults is 2-3 tablespoons.

* Since children under 1 of age are not supposed to eat honey, this medicine is not recommended.
