Grapefruit Diet

Grapefruit diet is a low calorie diet, which is based on the assumption that grapefruit contains “magic” substance. When this magic substance is introduced into our body, together with proteins leads to fat burning and causes weight loss.

This diet first appeared in the 30s of the last century and was known as “the Hollywood diet”. Today some people call it “the Mayo Clinic diet”, although diet has no connection with the American organization that brings that name.

Simple Plan of meals
breakfast:
2 eggs (boiled or fried);
2 thin slices of bacon;
coffee (without sugar and milk);
½ grapefruit or a glass of grapefruit juice.
lunch:
salad with meat;
½ grapefruit or a glass of grapefruit juice.
You can eat any kind of meat and preparing as you want.
dinner:
red / green vegetables or salad with unlimited quantity of fish or meat,
½ grapefruit or a glass of grapefruit juice.
Snack before bedtime:
a glass of milk or tomato juice.

Prefer vegetables are green and red onion, broccoli, carrots, lettuce, cabbage, spinach and tomatoes, and disposed corn, celery, potatoes, white onions, beans and peas. You can eat whatever meat or fish you like.

Meat and vegetables can take an unlimited amount of butter and spices and you can bake them or fry them.

Rules of the diet

  • During lunch or dinner, you can eat until you feel full.
  • Do not drink more than one cup of coffee per day.
  • Do not eat between meals. You can only have snacks after dinner.
  • Drink plenty of water, at least 2 liters a day.
  • Always enter recommended quantity of grapefruit.
  • Diet lasts 12 days. If you wish to continue with it afterwards, have a break for at least 2 days.

Positive sides of the diet

Grapefruit diet is a low calorie diet and therefore you can lose a lot of weight in no time. No need to count calories or measuring food accurately to the gram, so it is very easy to follow.

Grapefruit is a fruit that contains very few calories and is a rich source of vitamin C.

Negative sides of the diet

Lost weight consists of fluid, not fat. Most people get back their lost weight after the diet period, appears yo-yo effect.

People who hold this diet usually consume 800-1000 calories per day, which is below the minimum limit. Women should consume a minimum of 1200 calories per day.

If you try this diet, physical activity is not recommended, primary because you consume few calories and your body does not have enough energy.

Results

Grapefruit diet should be followed for 12 days. During this time, you can lose up to 5 pounds.

If you receive any medication, skip the grapefruit diet because there is evidence that grapefruit in combination with some medicines can be harmful to health.
