Don’t Buy Fabric Softeners Anymore – They Are Harmful! Make Yourself a Natural and Inexpensive One!


Fragrances which are extremely harmful, especially for children, are constantly used in the fabric softeners production.

Commercial softeners are known to one of the main causes of allergies. Considering the fact that they contain numerous chemicals, these products are hazardous to our health. Phthalates are commonly used in order to obtain scent and it has been proven they are very harmful for hormonal balance in animals. So, when using fabric softener we do not only harm ourselves, but our environment as well.

All these reasons should be quite enough for you to start making natural fabric softener. The ingredients you will need in order to make such a softener are easily available – water, baking soda, apple cider vinegar and essential oils.

Ingredients needed:

  • 100 grams of baking soda
  • 150-200 ml of hot water
  • 800 ml of apple cider vinegar
  • 20 drops of essential oil (optional)

Method of Preparation:

Since you will cause bubble reaction while preparing this softener, you will need big plastic container (3 to 5 liters). Put the water, baking soda and vinegar in the container. Be prepared for a chemical reaction. You will come across endless bubble reaction.

When the mixture “calms down” pour it into a container which you will use as a softener tank.

Add several essential oil drops, which you choose, tightly close the container you are using and shake well.

Additional advice:

Remember to shake the softener each time you use it. Add 4 tablespoons of this homemade softener per laundering.
