The legend about this plant, called Eupharasia rostkoviana says that it got its Latin name Euphrasia by the Greek graciousness Euphrosini (which means joy) because it delights all those people who have eye problems.
This herb is exists since the ancient times and among the people is proven as the best natural remedy for eye diseases. This plant today is worldwide available and is effective remedy for those who have eye problems, vision problems and diseases whether they come from age, infection or other cause.
Composition and benefits from it – it contains vitamin C, essential oils, resins, acid eufrastan and rinantin. In the folk medicine it is recognized as unique tool that helps with serious problems of eyes. You can make eye drops from the fresh juice or you can used it as coat. Recipe for natural drops: fresh juice from the herb should be diluted with distilled water and from it just drip two drops in the eye.
Tea prepared from this herb used as bath for rinsing or coating of the eyes:
- ½ teaspoons of dry euphrasia should be put in a 2dl. hot water and be left for 1-2 minutes. Strain the fluid and with the tepid tea wash your eyes 2-3 times daily. You can also do coatings from the liquid, soak into sponge for example and place them on your eyes for about 5 minutes, until the coating dries. If you practice this at night, the coating can stay even longer. Always use freshly prepared tea and if you have sensitive eyes dilute the tea in much boiled, lukewarm water.
If you have strong eye inflammation, you can add chamomile or calendula, which are herbs who can easily ease the symptoms and rapid the recovery. For strengthening the optic nerves consume the euphrasia orally: Add pinch of the dried herb in your meals 1-2 times daily.
Coatings against sty in the eye – pour 5 tablespoons of euphrasia into 250ml. warm water and let stand for 10 minutes and strain the liquid after. Wrap the strained herb in a gauze and place it as coating on the sty. Hold it like that for about 5 minutes. The heat will help you to pull out the sty and will speed the recovery of the eye.
Straight your vision with euphrasia tea – Pour 2 teaspoons of euphrasia in already boiled 2dl water, cover it and let it stand for 15 minutes with occasional stirring. Strain it and consume prepared like this tea for three times a day. Consume it freshly prepared always.
Other health problems – I already said that is best known for treatment of the eye diseases but it can also be helpful with the respiratory diseases such as bronchitis, influenza and fiver. It relieves the pain in the stomach and digestive system. It affects positively on headaches, insomnia and relieves cold.
