How to Measure Body Fat With the Body Mass Index

Body Mass Index, or BMI, is a tool that helps you measure your level of body fat by using your height and weight. Doing the calculation is pretty simple and easy. All you need to do is weigh yourself, measure your height, and consult the chart.

It’s important to know that BMI doesn’t distinguish between fat and muscle mass. Because a bodybuilder has more muscle mass and therefore a greater weight in terms of height, his BMI will show that he is fat.

Still, body mass index is almost always correct, though it is only one tool to check your health. It’s also good to measure other things, such as your blood pressure, heart rate, waistline, and physical inactivity.
