Diet is important from the earliest age because mothers must be careful of the way they feed their children. Not only you must pay attention to your diet in order to have good quality milk, you should also know what type of food to give to your children and in which period of their growth.
In the first 6 months babies should be fed only with breast milk or milk that you know it is natural, if you are not able to breastfeed your baby.
From 6 to 8 month babies should be fed with grains, fruits and vegetables. Besides this food, babies should not be given another type of food. During these two months the baby’s breakfast should be consisted of 2 tablespoons of rice, oats or barley cereal. Lunch should also include 1-2 tablespoons of cereal and 2 tablespoons of broth made out of fruit or vegetable. You can always make new combinations of vegetables and/or fruit. In these months you should give to your baby 1-2 tablespoons of cereal and mushy fruit or vegetables for dinner.
From the 8th month until the 11th, cooked meat chopped into small pieces should be added to your baby’s diet. Cooked meat contains large amounts of protein. From the 8th to the 11th month for breakfast your baby should get 2-3 tablespoons of corn chips and 1 tablespoon of chopped kiwi, banana, ripe peaches, watermelon or cantaloupe. For lunch give your baby 2-3 tablespoons of cereal, 1 tablespoon of fresh fruit pieces or vegetables and 2 tablespoons of fruit pulp. The dinner should be consisted of 2 tablespoons of vegetable broth, 1-2 tablespoons broth with meat (chicken or beef) and 1 tablespoon vegetable or fruit pieces.
From 12th to 24th month baby should get about 2 whole cups of milk. For lunch you can give your baby 1 slice of bread, 1 boiled egg, 6 grains of grape and 60 ml milk. As snacks you can take pieces of chopped banana and 60 oz of milk. Lunch should be consisted of 2 slices of bread, 1 slice of cheese, about ¼ cup of boiled broccoli broth and 60 ml of milk. You can give your baby ¼ cups of cereal grains and ¼ cup of melon pieces as snacks. Give your baby ½ cup of wheat with tomato sauce, 2 tablespoons of cooked vegetables chopped in pieces and 60 ml milk for dinner. Feed your baby with ¼ cups of chopped fruit and ¼ cups of yogurt as snacks
After the first year children should drink 2 glasses of water every day not only because water is healthy but also to acquire the habit of drinking from a glass. Then, in the next 6 months your baby should be given a glass of water in less colicky. Avoid sap the first year, because it can cause diarrhea.
