Alkalinity and acidity are measured by the pH value. Pure rain’s pH is equal 7. This is why pure rain is considered as neutral. Every pH value which is below seven is considered acidic, and every value above seven is alkaline.
Anyway, when it comes to human body’s pH value, no one can give precise answer because there is no such thing as pH value for human’s body in general. Certain body parts have their own pH value and it can be measured. For example, our skin is slightly acidic because its pH value is around 5.5.
When it comes to our saliva, the pH value varies from 6.5 to 7.4 which make it both -- sometimes it is acidic and sometimes alkaline. Depending on the digestion phase, our digestive tract can have pH value with range from 1.5 to 7.0.
When we are perfectly healthy, our blood’s pH value can be from 7.35 up to 7.45. This makes out blood slightly alkaline when we are completely healthy. Our body maintains its balance mostly through the lungs and kidneys. However, chronic imbalance can deplete our body’s strength.
Why Alkaline Water?
Our bodies are consisted of 70% of water and since the pH value affects our overall health, it affects any certain disease as well.
How important is drinking alkaline water in these modern times
Due to our typical “modern” lifestyle and diet, our bodies are too acidic. Because of this modern diet, we are consuming mainly processed foods, including sugar, alcohol, caffeine and salt. Weak immune system, headache, fatigue and abdominal pain are all signs of too acidic environment.
If the environment in our bodies somehow becomes too alkaline or too acidic, our healthy cells might become very toxic, then they may collapse and finally die. pH imbalance like this will corrode the bodily tissues.
If acidic conditions like these continue, your organism will start to build up different kinds of excess acidic substances in some parts of your body. This way your body is trying to become more alkaline. As the acidity into some parts of your body increases, some of the cells die, and others might continue to live and adjust to the environment or they can turn into malignant cells.
This cycle is going to continue affecting cells around the ill ones and will contribute by becoming acidic. These cells can grow indefinitely and without any order. They can also spread to different parts of your body over time. This process is also known as metastasis.
