6 Reasons Mountain Dew Is Terrible for You and Should Never Be Drunk Again

Problems like war, hunger, disease and poverty have crippled our world for centuries. There’s one thing that’s common to all of them – they are bad for all of us.

But a thing that they don’t have is that they aren’t addicting. That is one thing restricted to the green-colored sugary drinks that the world is consuming everyday day. Mountain Dew is sugary but harms just like all the disasters mentioned above.

Mountain Dew’s original formula was created by Barney & Ally Hartman, the Tennessee-based beverage bottlers in 1940. In 1958, Bill Bridgforth made some changes to it and sold the rights to the Marian, VA based Tip Corporation.

It was Bill Jones (William H. Jones) of Tip Corporation who made the essential changes to the formula to create Mountain Dew we all enjoy today. Then Pepsi-Cola stepped in and bought the “Green Monster’s” rights and started mass production in the year 1964.

Mountain Dew is a big hit with the folks from the Appalachian region. In fact, there is a kind of a cult-like popularity of this fuzzy drink in the Appalachian Mountains. But it doesn’t come as a surprise in any way that Central Appalachia ranks No.1 in the country when it comes to regions with toothlessness. In fact, there is also a term for this epidemic.

Note: -- Mountain Dew may sound great, but if you are of the soft heart, we will recommend not reading more about this drink from here.

Mountain Dew is actually killing so many people worldwide and yet most of us turn a blind eye to it.

If you think that’s not true, you should consider the stats.

So Acidic, You Will Not Believe

All of us have been stopped by our parents (when we were kids) not to lick batteries. This was because there’s acid in batteries. If you will know about the acidity of Mountain Dew and battery, you will be taken back. Battery’s acid has pH level of 1, Mountain Dew 3 and Pepsi/Coke 2.5!

These figures are reported by none other than the National Institutes of Health and the US National Library of Medicine. A lower pH level means higher amount of acidity.

Changing your Testosterone

Rumors have always been abound about Mountain Dew causing genital problems in young men by making them smaller.  Although that may or may not be true because of the drink, but the bottle holding it is certainly going to affect your hormones. It happens because of the presence of BPA in the linings of cans and plastic.

So what is BPA? BPA is actually used by the company for preventing the acid within the soda from causing damages to the can. Studies conducted by scientists and researchers have shown that the toxin can cause significant increase in the risk of following diseases and health problems:

  • Infertility
  • Changes in pancreas beta cells
  • Reproductive cancers
  • Thyroid dysfunction

False Advertising

All successful products will have a winning marketing slogan to it that inspires and encourages people. So on this line you will soon realize that Red Bull has a tagline – that it gives “you wings.” Then there’s M&M that says that they will “melt in your mouth, not in your hands.” With Mountain Dew the slogan is that it’s “Game Fuel.”

Hundreds of thousands of avid gamers worldwide play their favorite games every day, spending up to 12 hours in front of the screen while gulping down tons and tons of Mountain Dew.

The Environmental Health News quoted one research that said that these gamers are simply sitting for straight 12 hours and “pounding sodas.”

What is concerning is that gamers aren’t the only ones who are enjoying this “Game Fuel.” The famous Honey Boo Boo, who appeared on Toddlers and Tiara said that she consumed the “go-go-juice” prior to her performances. This juice is made by mixing Mountain Dew and Red Bull, which is nothing else but a toxic combination.

Pepsi Also Acknowledges it’s Bad

You may be thinking that we cooked up this story. But if you did a back check you will find that it’s true.

In 2012, Ronald Ball used Pepsi Co claiming that his Mountain Dew had a rancid taste. He bought it from a vending machine. When he poured out the drink, he found a dead mouse in it. When he mailed the proof to Pepsi Co, they said that the mouse must have “dissolved” in it sin the phase between the bottling and the man drunk it, and turned it into the jelly-like thing it had become.

How do you feel about it?

Presence of GMO Ingredients

If you are not yet rattled by this drink, this information is going to give you the wake up call.

What does Mountain Dew contain?

It has:

  • GMO corn and soy
  • Sodium benzoate (a preservative which reacts with vitamin C in Dew and forms carcinogens)
  • BVO (which is banned in EU and Japan)
  • BPA
  • Yellow dye (source = coal tar)

All these ingredients mean that you have the perfect cocktail from the Frankenstein. Jokingly, Pepsi Co claims that all the ingredients mixed in it don’t pose any risk.

According to Pepsi, BVO has already been approved to be safe by the FDA. It is used in many beverages based on citrus. The company says that people can remain “assured” that their drinks are safe and that they stick to all the regulations set by government.

But who are these people who make these regulations? It is the same people who have these companies on their resume under the previous experience section. It is known as the “revolving door” effect and you can get a clear idea of it from the movie Food Inc.

Long Lasting Impact

People are dying from cancer, obesity and various other diseases at an increasing rate. Mountain Dew may not be the direct killer, but there’s no doubt about it that it’s increasing the risks for developing serious health conditions. You can’t just sideline it claiming that it’s just soda.

The truth is that it is a formula that should have been kept in the lab and have never go out.

So How to Stop this Crazy Mountain Dew Following?

The first step will be to stop drinking soda. Take this – why do you drink soda? It doesn’t give you any nutrition or good substance to add to your body. Its negative effects simply overshadow its positive effects (there are none).

You could drink plain water or if you desire to enjoy a refreshing beverage with your family, a homemade juice or soda could be great. It will not only be healthier, it will also mean having control over what you are consuming.
